A turtle neck (or polo neck as us Brits call them) is one of the most utilized garments in my winter closet. Not only are they flattering on my pear shaped figure, they are crazy versatile! They can be layered under dresses, blouses, cardigans and vests, and they hold their own worn alone with jeans, pants and skirts. I know they don’t flatter everyone, but if they’re a piece that works for you, then I highly recommend adding one to your collection.

Polo necks look fantastic with sleeveless jackets! If you’re busty you probably give turtlenecks a wide berth as you find them unflattering, but if you want to wear them, give this combination a go – a vest layered over the top of a polo neck will elongate your neck and break up the line across your chest. It’s a great styling tip!

This is one of those outfits that just feels great! The knit is lightweight enough to tuck in without adding any bulk and the high heeled black boots prevent the outfit from looking frumpy. I’ve tucked the sweater in as I wanted to highlight the high waist on the skirt, but it would also look great, left untucked.

This is my favorite look out of the three, I absolutely love how the polo neck looks layered underneath this dress! If you have a couple of favorite summer dresses that you can’t bare to part with, then I recommend seeing what they look like with a poloneck!
