It’s time for another guest Three Ways to Wear, and this month Jen from The Jenuine Article is sharing her fabulous style and styling skills with us. I’m a huge fan of Jens’ style, it has an edgyness to it that I love, but more than that it’s her innate ability to adapt trends to suit her style that I’m a fan of. There’s no slavishly following fashions here, there is thought and consideration; she cherry picks from the trends and and introduces them effortlessly into her closet! And her three looks illustrate this perfectly! So without further ado…here is the talented Jen!
Hey everyone, I’m Jen, a British Blogger within the niche of beauty and style. I was raised in the British countryside, but have called London my home for over a decade. I created The Jenuine Article Blog shortly after my Husband and I welcomed the arrival of our twins (now 9months old). My style is eclectic, my hair is bright red (though I’m getting itchy feet to change it up again- any colour suggestions are greatly welcomed!?), my body shape is really hard to define- I have curves where there should be and a few lumpy bits where perhaps there shouldn’t be? I have never been able to relate to a classic label such as Pear or Apple shaped- Perhaps you could say I’m some sort of fruit hybrid!
When Niki asked me to be a part of this I was initially ecstatic, shortly after agreeing I then became stressed! I couldn’t decide what item to share with you guys. Then Topshop came to my rescue with the perfect Floral appliqué blouse, I chose it because its so soft and feminine, which is not my usual style. I want to share with you all, how to give floral prints some edge…so here it is…three ways.
The Smart Way
Paired with Gingham trousers (because nothing says Spring like Gingham, am I right?) and nude patent pumps. This is something I’d wear on a casual day at the office, it’s far softer than what I usually wear but the contrast of the cheques with the floral and the statement “fluted” sleeves keep it interesting.
The Edgy Way
Tucked into high-waisted jeans and with studded ankle-boots. I am seriously in love with “MOM” style jeans- the relaxed fit and high-waist are great for tucking in shirts and accentuating the waist. They also give me the perfect excuse to indulge in another love of mine…belts. Here, I’m wearing a skinny belt in pony leopard. In my opinion leopard is a great neutral and really brings an edge to this look.
The Fun Way
With fringed skinny jeans and floral mules. This look is probably breaking all kinds of style rules. I have floral details on my shoes, clutch and blouse. For me, it works- the bag also has studs and so maintains that all important edge and the floral accents bring the look together, without being to contrived and “matchy”. The fringing on the jeans is massively on trend right now- I got these jeans in a length 2 inches shorter than my normal leg as I wanted them to be cropped.
I absolutely love all of Jens’ looks, but the last one, with those beautiful floral loafers and fringed jeans is my favorite. How about you?
Please show Jen some love by following her feeds and do pop on over to her blog, it is FULL of useful tips and style inspiration!
