If you’re a long time reader of style studs and Lace, then you’ll know I’m a tincy bit partial to a jumpsuit. I have a few that I’ve collected over the years and I wear each one of them regularly. I’ve mentioned in the past how important it is to find a jumpsuit that’s suitable for your shape (some are long in the body and others shorter and it’s important to get this correct otherwise you’ll either have a saggy bottom, or will be rather uncomfortable) so I’m not going to go into that again today. But if you want to read more about finding the best fit, off the peg, pop on over here.
This particular jumpsuit is one that effortlessly crosses over from day to night and so is probably my most worn suit so far this season.
WORN CASUALLY WITH KICKS
Teaming kicks with feminine pieces is one of my favorite things to do, they’re also a great option if you’re looking to dress down smarter items in your closet. That floaty maxi that you bought for a summer wedding? Grab a pair of trainers and wear it to the pub. The pretty sun dress you bought for the summer? Don’t wait for those rare days where it’s warm enough to wear it with sandals, wear it with your favorite kicks and a leather moto or denim jacket! Now, I want to mention the cropped length – despite what you may think, cropped jumpsuits definitely do not have to be worn with heels…even if you’re petite. The beauty of a one piece is it has the ability to lengthen you and make you appear a little taller than you actually are. YAY!
DRESSED UP FOR A NIGHT OUT
This outfit is pretty self explanatory. It hasn’t needed much styling or accessorizing (the smocked neckline and cold shoulder detail are so pretty that I didn’t want to detract from them with a necklace. I am wearing earrings, but you can’t quite see them), but I did decide to add a narrow, studded belt to the waist to highlight mine and to elongate my legs a little. One tip I want to share here is to consider how your footwear will balance your outfit. This jumpsuit is quite a bold shape and, even though the print is a delicate tiny polka dot, this type of print will sometimes need grounding to keep your eye from flitting around the piece. This bold, heavy shoe balances it perfectly.
WORN SMART CASUALLY WITH LEOPARD PRINT
Smart casual outfits are something that many of you struggle with.  You’ll often tell me you’re great at doing smart for work, and casual for home, but when it comes to marrying the two it can get a little iffy. My tip to nailing that elusive smart casual style is to hunt down your perfect leather jacket (or denim, or suede…whatever your preference is), throw this over your dressier pieces and add a pair of fun flats. My jacket of choice is pretty much always leather, and this one it over 10 years old so it’s seen it’s fair share of smart casual outfits! You’ll notice I chose a tan belt rather than a black one, and this is because I wanted it to tie in with the leopard print shoes which might otherwise have looked a little lost.
Do you consider your accessories carefully, or do you just throw them on as you run out the door?
